The Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America (ACWA) collection contains mostly oversize photographs of ACWA functions , such as conventions, banquets, testimonial dinners and union local ball/dance committees. The collection also includes photographs of people at work in a cooperative apparel factory in Milwaukee, the opening of the Hillman Medical Center in Philadelphia, and various portraits of union officials.

The Amalgamated Clothing Workers of America (ACWA) union was formed in 1914. ACWA concentrated on workers in the men's ready-to-wear garment industry. For more than 20 years, the city was a center of non-union shops and subcontracting.
